Goal of the tool

Help coordinate regional emergency preparedness and response effectively and efficiently to help the animal and the livestock sector.
More specifically the tool aims at alerting and informing; mobilizing and coordinating assistance when countries need help; following-up & reporting.
The ultimate goal is to help the agriculture sector mitigating animal loss and contribute to a faster recovery with safeguarding food production.

Lessons-learned from floodings in Trinidad, 2018

Analysis of the experience of a disaster that occurred in Trinidad and Tobago and learn from lessons on how the event was managed with the animal/livestock sector.
Background information: Trinidad suffered from severe flooding and animals were stranded. Leptospirosis was a high risk and the veterinary community started vaccinating dogs.
Many farmers lost all their livestock particularly poultry, small ruminants. Flooding is also a frequent disaster in Guyana and other parts of the Caribbean.
Expected output: lessons-learned and recommendations to improve national disaster plan.
